Recruitment Specialist

The position of Recruitment Specialist is primarily responsible for performing all aspects of Skills Trades recruitment and staffing for the Canadian Operations of the Flynn Group of Companies. Reporting to the Talent Acquisition Manager- Canada, Recruitment Specialist must be prepared to work independently and as part of a North American team in areas of skilled trades recruiting and Human Resources.

The position will work closely with other departments and professionals throughout the organization including, but not limited to: Operations, Payroll, Immigration and Benefits.  

A Day in the Life

  •  Advertising and soliciting resumes from qualified candidates; Sourcing applicants (nationally and internationally); screening resumes and applications for suitability; conducting initial screening interviews, both telephone and in-person; making hiring recommendations based upon the eligibility criteria provided;
  • Be involved in special Talent Acquisition projects relating to employee retention, employer branding, process improvement, immigration, etc.
  • Sourcing potential candidates using online platforms (e.g. professional networks and social media channels)
  • Attend monthly meetings with hiring managers to identify recruitment needs and staffing challenges
  • Increasing Flynn profile to reach a broader and wider market of candidates; Finding new, innovating and creative ways to make Flynn an appealing and desirable company to work for
  • Working with the Human Resources Department to ensure that Flynn conforms to government and regulatory hiring and staff management practices
  • Analyzes the performance of recruitment, the cost per hire, time to hire and recommends changes and improvements, monitoring job boards and associated costs
  • Keeps the documentation of the recruitment process up to date and consistent across all platforms
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information regarding employees and applicants

What We Are Seeking

•    Preferably a bachelor’s degree, completion of college or equivalent experience in Human Resources or Business Administration field
•    Proven track record of success in a recruiting role or talent acquisition role (1+ years), having had responsibility for sourcing, screening, interviewing and hiring for multiple positions concurrently
•    Construction recruiting experience is preferred but not mandatory
•    Knowledge and experience working with an equal opportunity employer and well versed in the acceptable practices of interviewing and recruiting in a non-discriminatory environment
•    Ability to adapt to changing environments and always maintaining a high sense of urgency
•    High levels of organization and attention to detail when handling confidential and large volumes of information
•    Ability to communicate effectively and meaningfully to a variety of groups
•    Excellent computer literacy and application skills in desktop computing including, MS Outlook, MS Office (i.e. Excel) and other commonly used office productivity tools, preferably experience using HR computer software applications
