Applications Support Specialist

Job Profile

The Application Support Specialist is responsible for supporting and maintaining 4 Core Applications for the organization. To provide advisory services, technical guidance and training to internal customers on the operation and maintenance of Dynamics 2015, Preceptive Content, Time and Crew Management Mobile APP, Employee Health and Safety Mobile APP. One of the main responsibilities includes staying up to date with current system releases, developing and implementing strategies to address problem areas with the core solutions including implementing continuous improvement strategies. Individuals must work well in a team setting to meet objectives in a timely manner; however, individuals also need to be able to perform effectively with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

System Support and Application Service Desk

  • In-depth knowledge of Integrated Solutions
  • Experience with business requirement gathering and documenting
  • Experience with Change Management and change impact analysis
  • Management and triage of issue defects related to core applications and ensure day-to-day issues are addressed/resolved.
  • Developing system documentation for the core applications and provide proper training aids that meet change management governance.
  • Experience with creating test scripts, conducting system testing including system upgrades and implementation.
  • Develop systems requirements/specification documentation.
  • Collaborating with the Business to design/maintain processes that will improve overall effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Creating Jira tickets.

Project Management and Optimization

  • Responsible for developing strategy and roadmap for existing or net new systems with a holistic view of the business.
  • Creating and maintaining a business process for users to submit enhancement suggestions related to payroll.
  • Responsible for ensuring project plans and work demands of the team are realistic and deadlines are met including working with Project Management Office.
  • Maintain positive relationships with appropriate HR, IT, Finance, Management, Administration Teams and third-party vendors to determine enhanced offerings for current and future system functionality.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining system architecture maps and system documentation.

Data Quality, Training and Security

  • Evaluating data quality issues and determining methods to improve system accuracy.
  • Creating and maintaining training aids.
  • Facilitate training for new end-users and refresher sessions.
  • Evaluating data quality and preventative strategies to maintain accurate data.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business
  • Previous experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Ability to provide direction to Payroll administrators and influence stakeholders to ensure that solutions are effective and in keeping with the overall IT strategy.
  • Strong customer service focus with demonstrated skills in supporting users to assist in addressing issues and concerns.
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills are required.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to learn and use a variety of software applications such as JIRA, Zendesk, Teams, Camtasia. 
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-project environment with shifting priorities, and the ability to reassess and reprioritize competing business needs.
